Cloud demands drive change in vendor market

The advent of the cloud has driven evolution in the enterprise and is causing web hosting providers to change how they operate and approach partnerships. According to a CIO report, technology consultant Rauline Ochs said cloud services will grow five times faster than overall IT and force vendors to adjust business practices.

Although traditional IT reselling isn't going away, organizations should prepare for the increased demand for the cloud. Ochs also said decision-makers will also need to become "transformative," in which vendors will transition from selling legacy systems to setting up technologies that can continuously bring in revenue from advanced contracts, CIO reported.

"To make this transformation, you need to change your management persona, reset your service offerings, along with your sales, marketing and pricing," Ochs said, according to the news provider.

According to MarketsandMarkets, the global cloud computing market will generate more than $121 billion in revenue by 2015, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of more than 26 percent.

As more businesses around the world demand the technology, cloud vendors and resellers will need to make adjustments to survive in the increasingly competitive industry.
