Study: Businesses taking hybrid cloud computing approach
A new study by RightScale found that many business executives are now viewing the cloud as a strategic necessity, rather than a competitive advantage. As more organizations leverage the cloud, decision-makers are gaining greater insight into the technology and are making more rational choices. Today, more than two-thirds of companies are taking a multi-cloud approach to computing.
"No one-size-fits-all approach will work for everyone, which is why it's important to choose a platform that will allow you freedom of choice now and into the future as you decide where and how to leverage Infrastructure as a Service cloud providers," RightScale CEO Michael Crandell said.
The survey noted that roughly 53 percent of businesses are leveraging hybrid models, combining both public and private models. Of these respondents, 23 percent prioritize their private cloud initiatives, while 55 percent see both services as important.
A separate report by Strategy Analytics confirmed that businesses around the world are investing more in the cloud. As companies continue to do so, the multi-cloud approach will likely be the most common method for implementing the technology.
