Private cloud provisioning

While many businesses prefer the private cloud over its public counterpart, decision-makers still need to plan accordingly, as the migration process can be different. According to a CloudTweaks report, IT executives should consider what their workload and performance requirements are, since having a baseline for efficiency will help organizations navigate through sometimes complex service-level agreements.

IT executives also need to keep scalability in mind. Privately hosted virtual environments have a lot less capacity than the public cloud and may not be as flexible. Decision-makers need to keep this in mind when migrating to the structure, as putting high-traffic workloads in private clouds may not generate the same productivity results as it would in a public cloud, CloudTweaks noted.

Additionally, private clouds are hosted internally. This means that the IT department is in charge of managing and securing the virtual environments. As a result, companies should be sure they have the most robust monitoring and encryption tools available to keep mission-critical applications and data safe, the news source said.

After planning for the private cloud, decision-makers may realize that putting some solutions in a multi-tenant environment would be advantageous. By leveraging hybrid cloud models, organizations can use the best of both world, a trend that Gartner predicts will develop into the norm.
