Cloud infrastructure testing market to exceed $366 million in 2020

As businesses continue their use of cloud computing technologies, decision-makers are deploying innovative infrastructure testing and monitoring tools to improve performance and security. Because today's risk landscape is so sophisticated and is constantly evolving, executives need to ensure they have taken a proactive approach to reduce the chances of falling victim to a breach of some kind.

A recent Frost & Sullivan report highlighted the growing cloud infrastructure testing market, noting that it is forecast to generate more than $366 million in revenue in 2020, up from $95 million in 2012. By using advanced monitoring solutions, IT directors can acquire greater visibility into the digital landscape, allowing them to identify, address and combat threats before they have a chance to wreak havoc.

"There has been a significant rise in the number of publicized security breaches, such as advanced persistent threats and zero-day attacks, aimed at stealing corporate and individual identity," said OIga Yashkova-Shapiro, measurement and instrumentation program manager at Frost & Sullivan. "These attacks highlight the importance of testing cloud infrastructure through robust virtual private networks, firewall testing and security monitoring systems."

While the cloud is inherently secure, organizations simply need to adapt to the transforming cyber risk landscape. To do so, decision-makers need the ability to detect potential problems before they occur.

New opportunities for growth
The ongoing use of the cloud is not necessarily making companies more vulnerable, though it is opening new doors for service providers. Because enterprises will need help with the infrastructure testing and monitoring endeavors, cloud vendors can use this opportunity to emphasize the security of their solutions and the effectiveness of their monitoring services.

This will be important in the coming years, especially as the cloud tipping point moves closer to fruition. A recent InfoWorld report highlighted how businesses around the world are making more headway into the cloud than ever before. While this speed may be slightly slower than the hype, the truth of the matter is that the cloud is revolutionizing the way enterprises and small companies function on a basic level. For this reason, executives need to be sure mission-critical resources in and outside of the hosted landscape remain safe.

By working with trusted service providers, organizations can implement advanced cloud monitoring and testing solutions to guarantee the environments are secure enough to combat the evolving risk landscape.
