SSD Cloud Servers

GoGrid SSD Cloud Servers are built on a redundant 10-Gbps network fabric with high-performance SSD storage.

  • SSD storage for high I/O needs
  • 10-Gbps public and private network
  • Optimized for Block Storage
  • Easy administration via console access

Pricing

GoGrid offers hourly, monthly, and annual SSD Cloud Server pricing. With our hourly pay-as-you-go option, you simply pay for the resources you use. There is no commitment, and you’re free to cancel at any time. If you’re willing to commit to a prepaid monthly or annual Cloud Server plan, you can save money when compared to hourly Cloud Server charges.

Notes:

  • The Small SSD Cloud Server is only available with Linux and Windows 2K3.
  • Your CPU allocation will vary depending on the profile of the physical node on which your Cloud Server resides.
  • Windows licensing is included for free on all Cloud Servers.

MyGSI Migration

Deploy multi-data-center solutions without having to rebuild your Cloud Server. You can copy your GoGrid Server Image (MyGSI) for a one-time $50 fee. See our wiki for complete details.

Bandwidth Pricing (data transfer)

On GoGrid, data transfer is measured in gigabytes. There are no charges for private network data transfer between servers within a single data center. There are also no costs associated with inbound data transfer to your servers. You’ll only be charged based on your outbound data transfer. Pricing for outbound data transfer starts at just $0.12 per GB. See the Data Transfer page for complete details.

About Hourly Cloud Server Billing

With this option, you accrue usage charges by the hour for each Cloud Server you create. To stop all charges, you simply delete all Cloud Servers in the account. For example, if you create a 1 GB server using GoGrid and 1 hour later delete the server, you accrue charges for 1 hour of usage. Usage consists of accumulated hourly charges, transfer, and Cloud Storage charges.

About Prepaid Cloud Server Billing

If you deploy prepaid Cloud Servers, you’re billed in advance for each server. To stop all charges, you simply delete all virtual servers in the account before the end of the term. Prepaid servers are not prorated. For example, if you create a 1 GB monthly prepaid Cloud Server using GoGrid and 10 days later delete the server, you’ll still be charged for the full month. If you deploy a single server for 10 days, delete the server, and then deploy a second server for the rest of the month, you’ll be charged for two monthly prepaid Cloud Servers. Additional usage charges consist of transfer and Cloud Storage charges.

Use Cases

High I/O
Our solid state disk (SSD) Cloud Servers are designed for high I/O use cases. These servers offer options with higher RAM capacities than our standard servers (up to 64 GB) and higher storage capacity on attached high-performing SSDs. All these servers also run on our high-performance fabric, which provides for 10 Gbps of public and private network traffic. These servers are also optimized for our Block Storage service.

Big Data
Many Big Data technologies like MongoDB and Riak can utilize the performance advantages and high I/O capabilities of SSD Cloud Servers. For example, most disk access patterns in MongoDB do not have sequential properties, and as a result, customers may experience substantial performance gains by using SSDs. Another benefit of using SSDs is that they provide a more gentle degradation of performance if the MongoDB working set no longer fits in memory.

Our 1-Button Deploy™ Big Data Solutions use our SSD Cloud Servers as the core infrastructure for a MongoDB replica set or a Riak cluster. In general, you’ll want to deploy multiple servers for Big Data technologies—a replica set for MongoDB and a cluster for Riak. In addition, the 10-Gbps network makes sending traffic between nodes fast and efficient. If you require additional storage, SSD Cloud Servers are also optimized for Block Storage.

Windows OS

These base images are maintained by GoGrid. They come with full root/administrator access and can be customized and used as the starting point for your custom server images. All Windows operating system licenses are free. There is a surcharge for SQL Server. More images, preinstalled and preconfigured with a variety of solutions, are available to you via some of our partners.
