With our recent release you will find many new options to help you leverage your GoGrid cloud. See below for the new features and system enhancements that are now available.
MyGSI Enhancements
Our MyGSI feature has always enabled you to create, edit, save, and deploy a GoGrid Server Image (GSI) that contains your base operating system as well as anything else you would install and configure on a sandbox server. Now this feature is even easier to use.
MyGSI Streamlined – You can now:
- Save an image from any cloud server. There is no longer a requirement to create a special Sandbox server. Visit the documentation on the wiki for more details. NOTE: the amount of data on the disk must not exceed the image size cap of 50GB.
- Initiate saves via the customer portal or API – perfect for automated horizontal scaling. Find out more here.
What happens with your existing images?
Nothing! Your existing images will continue to work; the only difference is that you don't need to use a sandbox to create new images. Your existing images will remain in your image repository along with any new images.
Common MyGSI Use Cases
- Horizontal server scaling—use a GSI to rapidly deploy new servers to meet sudden spikes in demand. Delete the servers when demand drops and pay only for the resources used.
- Vertical server scaling—scale RAM by deploying a GSI to a new server with a higher RAM allotment and then deleting the old server with insufficient RAM.
- Server parking—bundle and park a server in GoGrid's Cloud Storage for only $0.15 (about $3.00/month). This is ideal for users that don't want to pay for an entire month of service for a server used only a few days per month.
- Backups—use a GSI to support your incremental development or create a system of version control.
GoGrid Billing Enhancements
After significant analysis, customer interaction and feedback, we will be addressing many aspects of GoGrid billing as well as providing more thorough visibility into the reporting metrics driving GoGrid billing. This is a multi-step series of improvements which will make billing much more intuitive, streamlined, and easier to manage via the GoGrid customer portal.
Streamlined invoicing
- Receive one invoice per month on your monthly bill date
Seamless management of your payment plan via the customer portal; you can now:
- Select and change your pricing plan on demand to meet your needs
- View pending plan changes
- Receive plan confirmation emails
Granular usage reports
- View your RAM usage for your cloud servers
- See the transfer usage for your account
- Download reports to help forecast future usage
